I Graduate College in 3 Days...
As I approach the final days of student life, of course I have to dedicate my first blog post on my "professional" website to my fear revolving the uncertainty of life post-graduation. Most graduates, whether that be from high school or college have probably gone through a similar set of emotions. Constantly asking yourself "What's next?" because there is a need for wanting structure in your future. When the finish line approaches, that lack of guidance on the next steps creates a concerning amount of stress.
We are set up to climb the educational hierarchy until you finally complete a degree that society swears is necessary for success, and then they want you to work, take a vacation once a year, pay off thousands of dollars of student debt that shouldn't even exist, and then of course we are all faced with unavoidable death at some point. That can't be all there is to life and the closer I get to graduating, the more I realize that I need to kind of go against the grain in order to create happiness for myself.
It may sound a bit cliché and a tad redundant, but my ultimate goal in life is to be happy. Since I will probably be working for the rest of my life after graduating, I strive to parttake in something that is enjoyable and benefits other people in some way as well. Life is tough and the world is in pretty bad shape. Even though it may be scary to figure out what to do for the rest of my life, at least I know that my goal is to continue to spread positivity in all walks of life.
